Amazon India has stepped on the gas to launch its quick commerce delivery service, codenamed Tez, by late December or early next year as it aims at a slice of the booming market, the Economic Times reported. A name for the service is yet to be finalised.
Earlier, Amazon was aiming to roll out the service in the first quarter of 2025 but it now looks to accelerate the process, the report stated. It is the only large e-commerce firm without a presence in quick commerce - India’s fastest growing online business which recorded gross sales of about $5.5-6 billion in November alone, led by the likes of Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy Instamart.

This new service will mark Amazon’s entry into the quick commerce business globally.
According to report quoting sources, the matter will be discussed in the next monthly review slated for the first week of December.

Amazon has been a significant player in the grocery delivery space with its Pantry service, which offered next-day deliveries, but the company merged this service with its Fresh two-hour delivery offering. Amazon relies on More Retail stores—a joint venture between Amazon and Samara Capital—to fulfill these deliveries, also providing options for store pick-ups.
