Air India on Wednesday announced interline partnership with Taiwan's STARLUX Airlines to expand travel opportunities for passengers throughout Asia.
As part of the partnership, the Tata Group-owned airline and the Taiwan-based carrier will allow travelers to book combined itineraries on a single ticket, streamlining connections between the two networks.
Air India said that passengers will benefit from coordinated baggage services and more straightforward travel arrangements when flying with either carrier.
How will the partnership benefit travellers?
The partnership potentially opens up new route possibilities for travelers on both sides.
Air India passengers will gain access to Taipei through five key Southeast Asian cities: Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, and Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, STARLUX passengers will be able to connect to four major Indian destinations — Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru — using the same Southeast Asian gateways.
The partnership will enable each carrier to offer customers more destination choices without having to add new aircraft or routes to their own operations.
Commenting on the partnership, Air India's Chief Commercial Officer, Nipun Aggarwal, said, “We are excited to partner with luxury full-service carrier, STARLUX Airlines, to enhance travel options across for our customers to Taiwan. This interline agreement aligns perfectly with Air India’s commitment to delivering premium experiences for our guests, while inviting STARLUX Airlines customers to experience India’s diverse cities in full-service comfort through our robust network.”
STARLUX Airlines currently operates more than 30 routes from Taiwan. The airline's network spans destinations across the United States, Japan, and numerous Southeast Asian countries including Macau, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. The carrier has built its reputation on emphasizing safety protocols and delivering high-quality service to create a premium flying experience.
The arrangement comes as Asian airlines continue rebuilding their networks and partnerships following disruptions to the travel industry. By pooling their networks, Air India and STARLUX will be offering travelers more flexibility and convenience when planning trips across the region.
