Talk about the recent buzz around Benarasi fabric and style, thanks to none other than Bollywood’s top designer Manish Malhotra. For his latest show in Benaras with actress Kriti Sanon and actor Ranveer Singh, the designer made the gorgeous Bollywood pair strut down the ramp in handcrafted Benarasi couture. The collection’s theme Benarasi Sari - A tapestry of Indian culture and craftsmen was a perfect ode to the classic Benarasi textile and the Bunker community, with the two A-list actors playing picture-perfect muses for the designer.

With an aim to reach out to the national and global audience with the Make in India project, Manish re-created the OG vibe of the ancient town at the ghats, and celebrated the timeless beauty of Benarasi weaves and the rich craftsmanship of the textile for his latest showcase. The designer showcases a line of wearable Benarasi creations in the collection, and got praised for his innovative silhouettes.

If you too are fans of the delicate and timeless Benarasi weaves and can’t get enough of it, here are some tips to rock that sari or lehenga with confidence and style in the summer:

Lightweight fabrics: Look for Benarasi fabrics in lightweight materials like silk-cotton blends or pure cotton. They'll keep you cool and comfortable even in the summer heat.

Bright colours: Opt for vibrant hues like reds, oranges, and yellows to really stand out in the summer sun. They'll add that extra pop to your look and keep things fun and lively.

Flowy silhouettes: Go for flowy silhouettes like lehengas or anarkalis that allow for easy breezy movement. They'll keep you feeling fresh and airy all day long.

Minimal accessories: Keep your accessories light and minimal to let your Benarasi outfit shine. A statement piece like a maang tikka or jhumkas can add that extra oomph without weighing you down. Embrace the ethnic vibes with traditional makeup and hairstyles. For hair and makeup, think soft curls or a sleek bun adorned with fresh flowers for that quintessential summer look.
