
An old clip of PM Narendra Modi where he can be seen talking about the benefits of Himalayan fruit sea buckthorn is gaining traction. He mentioned that the rare plant is found in Ladakh and Himalayan regions. The plant is able to survive in extreme weather conditions ranging from -40 degrees Celsius to +40 degrees Celsius.
PM Modi also mentioned that the plants packs in medicinal properties and the same have been mentioned in the 8th century Tibetan literature too. "As per a study, this plant has sufficient vitamin C content that can fulfill the requirement of all of mankind," the PM had added.
Moneycontrol team reached out to Dt Ginni Kalra, Head Dietetics, Aakash Healthcare, to understand about the benefits of sea buckthorn and in what all ways one can introduce it to one's diet.
"Numerous nutrients, including vitamins, proteins, amino acids, organic acids, and inorganic elements, are found in sea buckthorn. Its potent antioxidant profile, which is particularly helpful during seasonal shifts, strengthens the immune system, fights infections, and lowers oxidative stress," shared Dt Kalra.

She added that it also helped in healing wounds, improving cardiovascular health, lowering blood sugar, reducing risk of cancer, reducing inflammation, boosting eye health, providing relief from vaginal dryness, among other things.
