Singer Ed Sheeran, who recently collaborated with Arijit Singh on Sapphire, says he is in the best shape of his life after years of lifestyle changes, workouts, and running.

Ed Sheeran, who has composed and sung some of the most popular songs worldwide, including Sapphire with Arijit Singh, opened up about his recent weight loss in a chat with Andy Cohen for Sirius XM’s Small Stage Series.

After being noticed for his “shredded” appearance by the host of Watch What Happens Live, the musician said he was in the best shape of his life. “I'd put on a load of weight last year, and I was like, ‘I'm gonna hit the gym heavy, try and lose a stone.’”

And that became quite the motivation for him to target getting a six-pack. “As I was doing that, I was like, ‘I'm gonna see how far I can take this.’ I've never actually ever had a six-pack in my life, and I was like, ‘I'm gonna see if I can do it,’” the singer-songwriter added.

However, like the rest of us, Sheeran admitted faltering on his journey by indulging in a beer here and there. “I keep messing up, 'cause I keep being out somewhere being like, ‘I'll have a couple of beers.’ But I'd say it's going all right. I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life,” he shared.

While Sheeran may have shed extra kilos recently, his weight-loss journey actually started in December 2019.

He revealed in an earlier podcast that quitting smoking three years ago, along with running, helped him shed 50 pounds. He confessed to becoming aware of the damage he was doing to his lungs and the measures that were needed to correct it.

Staying fit implies working towards a good lifestyle, including a healthy diet and disciplined workouts. Sheeran said he does not like the idea of a gym. Hence, he took to running, which helped him breathe fresh air and stay active. It was the time when he stopped having takeaways and started focusing on his diet, and he felt good about his choices.
