Hair fall, colds, and digestive troubles are common in monsoon. Rainy days may cool the temperature, but they also create a ground for everything from frizzy hair to chest congestion. High humidity and sudden temperature shifts can weaken the immune system, mess with your digestion, and even trigger hair loss.

Monsoon is the time to turn to age-old remedies and homeopathy, says Dr Akshay Batra, Trichologist, Managing Director, Dr Batra’s Healthcare. “These work with your body without side effects and help you stay well, naturally. A lot of people overlook how connected everything is, scalp health, gut balance, sinus issues, they all flare up in monsoons,” says Dr Batra.

Nevertheless, you don’t always need harsh treatments. “There are tried-and-tested, gentle solutions right from your kitchen or homeopathic kit that can help you feel better from the inside out,” he suggests.

Dr Batra gives 8 simple home and homeopathic remedies to try this monsoon:

  • Use a neem and black tea hair rinse: Boil neem leaves with black tea, cool, and use as a final rinse post-shampoo. “This helps cleanse the scalp and control monsoon hair fall,” explains Dr Batra. Pair it with Silicea for stronger roots.

  • Sip on warm ajwain water: Post-meal ajwain (carom seed) water supports digestion and eases bloating. Combine with Lycopodium to soothe sluggish digestion and reduce post-meal gas during damp days.

  • Drink turmeric milk before bed: A pinch of black pepper in turmeric milk helps lung function and prevents seasonal colds. Bryonia Alba adds relief for dry cough and chest tightness, says Dr Batra.

  • Try clove smoke for sinus relief: Burn a clove and gently inhale the rising smoke to clear sinuses. “For recurring sinus pain, Kali Bichromicum is highly effective,” he recommends.

  • Lubricate nostrils with ghee: A drop of ghee in each nostril before sleep reduces nasal dryness and supports breathing. Pair it with Natrum Sulph for added sinus support in muggy weather.

  • Swap sugar with jaggery: Chewing jaggery after meals aids digestion and neutralises acidity. Nux Vomica is a great companion remedy for irregular eating and acid reflux.

  • Apply raw potato juice to scalp: This old trick can reduce hair fall and promote regrowth. “Combine it with Phosphorus to calm scalp irritation and nourish follicles,” adds Dr Batra.

  • Purify your space with camphor: Burn camphor to cleanse indoor air and reduce infection risk. When used with Arsenicum Album, it also helps boost immunity and respiratory strength.
