For centuries, men’s health was not something measured in charts or sold in capsules; it was lived. In classical Indian wellness systems, strength, stamina, mental balance and reproductive vitality were woven into daily life through diet, routine and time-tested herbs. The aim was to prevent their health.
However, in today’s world long work hours, chronic stress, sedentary habits and irregular sleep are challenging the functioning of the body. Men are experiencing fatigue, hormonal swings and low energy earlier than ever, and they’re increasingly searching for solutions that don’t feel like temporary.
Says Mool Meena, founder of Sheopals, “The body needs support, not shortcuts. That is why traditional Ayurvedic ingredients like Ashwagandha, Gokhru, and other herbs are turning into practical wellness.”
A number of PubMed studies also show how Ashwagandha helps reduce stress and improve sleep quality, while research into zinc highlights its importance in immune and hormonal function. Studies also indicate that amino acid supplementation can aid muscle recovery and metabolic health. This growing evidence is reframing herbs and minerals as functional, everyday support rather than exotic remedies.

“Ayurveda has always been about balance. Modern science is simply confirming what tradition observed for centuries,” says Meena.
Ashwagandha has long been known in Ayurveda as a rasayana, a rejuvenative herb for long-term strength rather than instant energy. Today it’s being used to support mental balance and nervous system health, especially for men dealing with chronic stress. “It’s not a quick fix, but a foundation for stability,” Meena notes.
Kaunch beej (velvet bean) and safed musli (white musli) were traditionally used to restore vitality after weakness and to sustain ojas, life’s subtle essence. Modern interpretation places them in the context of muscle health, recovery and endurance, offering support for energy metabolism and physical resilience when used consistently. “These herbs are about sustaining strength, not chasing it,” says Meena.

Gokhru has often been pigeonholed as a reproductive herb, but Ayurveda viewed it as a systemic balancer supporting fluid regulation and circulation. Contemporary wellness sees it as a preventive support for metabolic and cardiovascular health, reinforcing the idea that vitality depends on internal harmony, not isolated functions. “Gokhru helps the body maintain rhythm,” Meena explains.
Ginseng is one of the earliest traditional ingredients to cross into modern nutraceutical science. It’s valued for stamina and mental clarity, and now it’s being reinterpreted as a long-term energy support, helping men avoid caffeine-driven peaks and crashes. “It offers sustainable focus, which is what modern life truly demands,” says Meena.
While herbs form the backbone of traditional wellness, modern studies highlight micronutrients like zinc and amino acids as essential for men’s health. Zinc supports immune function and hormone pathways, while amino acids aid muscle repair and cellular health. Together they fill nutritional gaps created by today’s diets, completing a holistic preventive framework.
