Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's love story is the stuff of dreams, a romance that has flourished over 33 years, producing three wonderful children: Aryan, Suhana, and Abram. Their journey together has been marked by ups and downs, but one particularly surprising admission from Shah Rukh sheds light on his initial doubts about Gauri's maternal instincts.
During an appearance on the popular talk show Koffee With Karan, Shah Rukh Khan had once dropped a bombshell that took many by surprise. He confessed that he never thought Gauri would be a good mother before they had children. He candidly shared, “Surprisingly, I never thought Gauri would be a good mother. She doesn’t come across as a children-friendly lady. She’s not coochie-cooing, I mean she’s not a typical… you see girls really liking kids.”
Shah Rukh went on to express his pleasant surprise at Gauri's transformation into a nurturing and caring mother. He explained how she became a perfect balance to his parenting style, making life with their children “sensible, simple,” and “very middle-class.” SRK appreciated how she brought structure and warmth to their family life, qualities that were essential as they navigated parenthood together.
Reflecting on the early days of fatherhood, Shah Rukh shared his fears when their first born, Aryan, arrived in 1997. In a revealing interview with Rediff, he admitted to feeling a profound sense of dread for Gauri during her Caesarean section. “I thought she’d die. Didn’t even think about the kid at that point in time. It wasn’t important to me. She was shivering so much, and I know logically that you don’t die while giving birth to babies. But still, I just got a little scared.”

Shah Rukh's sentiments didn't stop there; he also shared his thoughts on naming their son Aryan, humorously citing his hopes for the future. He quipped, “I thought when he tells a girl that my name is Aryan, Aryan Khan, she’ll be really impressed.” This lighthearted remark reveals not just a father's pride but also a playful approach to parenting. He painted a picture of a father who had hopes and dreams for his son, all while balancing the reality of new responsibilities.
Despite his rising stardom, Shah Rukh Khan has always made it clear that Gauri holds a special place in his heart. In a nostalgic interview from 1992 with Stardust, he proclaimed, “Gauri would always come first. If I ever had to pick between her and my career, I would choose her any day.” This unwavering devotion underscores the foundation of their relationship, suggesting that no matter the challenges they face, Gauri remains his top priority.
