The dramatic divorce saga between Bhojpuri actor-cum-politician Pawan Singh and his wife Jyoti Singh has taken a sharper turn.

His wife Jyoti has reportedly demanded an alimony of Rs 30 crore from her estranged husband.

According to reports, this demand has escalated tensions between Jyoti and Pawan even further. Pawan Singh has also accused Jyoti of timing the controversy to coincide with the Bihar Assembly elections which are scheduled for November 2025.

In response, Pawan’s legal team has pushed back, stressing that the court has not granted any definitive alimony order.

Free Press Journal has quoted Pawan Singh's lawyer saying: "After so much humiliation, who will accept her now?”

The site further quoted the lawyer that any decision on the alimony demand by Jyoti will only depend on Pawan Singh’s financial condition.

Known as the 'Power Star' of Bhojpuri cinema, wife, Pawan Singh's first wife Neelam Devi had also died by suicide soon after their marriage.

Then, in 2018, he married Jyoti Singh. But as time passed, their relationship was tarnished with accusations and counter claims.

In April 2022, Jyoti filed for divorce, accusing Pawan of mental and physical harassment, and alleging she was forced into abortions and that he 'forced her to abort their child twice'.

Recently she also claimed that she had taken 25 sleeping pills in a suicide attempt arising from her mental anguish. Pawan has consistently denied these allegations.

The couple’s legal conflicts have played out across different jurisdictions: Pawan filed for divorce in Arrah, Bihar, while Jyoti countered with a separate maintenance suit in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh and both the cases are still pending.

In the past, Jyoti had reportedly asked for Rs 5 crore in alimony, but Pawan had offered Rs 1 crore in settlement.

In recent weeks, Jyoti’s public outreach has escalated. She broke down outside Pawan’s Lucknow residence, accusing him of infidelity and claiming he escorted another woman to a hotel just days after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile, Pawan has dismissed all the allegations and called it a political ploy. He says that Jyoti is trying to ride the election wave .
