Shah Rukh Khan will turn 60 on November 2, 2025, and continues to defy the years with a physique and energy level that would put men half his age to shame. Over the years, the superstar has spoken about his fitness habits and dietary discipline, offering fans a glimpse into the routines that keep him looking as sharp as he did in his early days in Bollywood.

In an interview with The Guardian earlier this year, SRK revealed his unusual sleep schedule. “I go to bed at five in the morning but wake up by nine or ten,” he said. Despite the late nights, his discipline in other areas keeps him fit. He shared that he works out before bed after returning from work around two in the morning—a routine few could manage but one he’s maintained for years.

Looking back at his 2016 conversation with expressfoodie.com, Shah Rukh was candid about his eating habits. “I eat grilled chicken, lean meats, pulses, and egg whites,” he said, making it clear that protein-rich, clean meals form the base of his diet. At the time, when asked what he eats to stay in shape, he humorously replied, “Nothing!” before explaining that portion control plays a big role in his regimen.

“I make sure I eat fewer portions, and I give up white bread, white rice, sweets, and alcohol if I need to get in shape for a certain role,” he said. It’s a strategy that allows him to quickly adapt his body to the demands of different film characters.

SRK is also careful about where his meals come from. He avoids food prepared on movie sets, preferring instead to eat a home-cooked lunch. His typical midday meal often includes fish or tandoori chicken, sometimes paired with bean sprouts or a vegetable dish. When it comes to dinner, he admitted, “Tandoori chicken with tandoori roti, generally, and a mutton dish once in a while.”

If there’s one dish that has truly earned his loyalty over the decades, it’s tandoori chicken. Calling it his comfort food, SRK confessed, “I am addicted to it and I can eat it 365 days a year.” He even recalled a time he tried caviar on an Air India flight, adding with a laugh, “It’s been a while since I have eaten it anywhere again.”

While he’s disciplined, he’s not entirely rigid. Shah Rukh revealed that he doesn’t particularly like junk food or desserts, but he makes occasional exceptions. “Sometimes I eat an ice-cream, or chocolate,” he admitted when asked about Indian sweets. Interestingly, he also avoids eating fruits—an unusual choice for someone so health-conscious. Instead, his wife Gauri Khan, an accomplished interior designer and film producer, often prepares him what he calls a “nice ice cream with digestive biscuits.”

Shah Rukh’s approach proves that staying fit into your late 50s isn’t about extreme fads or starving yourself—it’s about consistency, discipline, and knowing what works for your body. For him, that means skipping the white carbs, steering clear of alcohol when needed, and sticking to his favourites like grilled chicken and tandoori dishes.

As he steps into another year, fans continue to marvel at how he manages to look both ageless and effortless. But as his interviews show, there’s nothing accidental about it. Whether it’s a 2 a.m. workout or saying no to sweets, SRK’s routine is a reminder that behind the glamour lies relentless dedication.
