As the dust settles on Operation Sindoor, a bold offensive by the Indian Army targeting terrorist infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, actor Vijay Varma has taken a firm stand. The operation, which included a strike on the Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur — a known command center for Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) — resulted in the deaths of ten family members of Masood Azhar, including his elder sister, her husband, several children, and close associates.

Sharing a video of the masjid after the surgical strike, Varma didn’t hold back. He posted, “Taste your own medicine.” The comment drew strong reactions from some quarters of social media, accusing the actor of insensitivity.

Varma, known for his bold performances in films like Darlings, responded swiftly and unequivocally on his Instagram stories. “For those who are triggered by the previous story… Masood Azhar needs an even harsher punishment if there is. Hardened criminal. F**ker escaped justice back in 1999 with IC814 hijacking,” he wrote.

Masood Azhar, a notorious terrorist figure, was one of three men released by Indian authorities in 1999 to secure the safe return of passengers aboard the hijacked Indian Airlines flight IC814. After his release, Azhar founded JeM in Pakistan, an organization that has since claimed responsibility for several devastating terror attacks on Indian soil. These include the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2016 Pathankot airbase attack, and the 2019 Pulwama suicide bombing, which killed 40 CRPF personnel.

The Indian Army’s Operation Sindoor, launched in the early hours of May 7, was a direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which left multiple Indian soldiers dead. Striking deep into enemy territory, Indian forces targeted critical infrastructure linked to JeM and other terror outfits.

While the attack on the Bahawalpur mosque sparked some international concern due to its religious significance, Indian officials emphasized that it was a known militant hub. According to a statement attributed to Azhar himself, the site served as JeM’s central command.
