The Great Indian Kapil Show: Shatrughan Sinha reveals how rumours about his past relationships raised doubts in the mind of Poonam Sinha

Shatrughan Sinha candidly shared the challenges he and Poonam faced during their 14-year-long courtship.

The latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show turned into a celebration as legendary actor Shatrughan Sinha graced the stage with his wife, Poonam Sinha, their daughter Sonakshi Sinha, and son-in-law Zaheer Iqbal.

Shatrughan Sinha candidly shared the challenges he and Poonam faced during their 14-year-long courtship. He revealed how a prediction from a pandit added drama right before their wedding. “The pandit ji told Poonam that she would face tough times for 7.5 years after marriage but assured her that she would get used to it later,” Shatrughan shared. He also mentioned how rumours about his past relationships reached Poonam, making her emotional and raising doubts. Despite these challenges, their strong bond and mutual understanding helped them overcome these hurdles.

Shatrughan shared a piece of advice given to him by fellow actor Dharmendra, who had once told him that as a film star, many women would admire him, but he should stick to being a one-woman man — at least, one at a time. This playful anecdote was met with laughter, and his wife, Poonam, playfully emphasised, "At a time."

Zaheer, amusingly quipped, "I thought this was supposed to be a family episode; what’s going on?"

Sonakshi Sinha shared an emotional moment from her wedding to Zaheer Iqbal. She revealed that she chose to wear her mother Poonam’s wedding saree for her big day, honouring family traditions and creating a meaningful connection to her parents’ legacy.

Recalling his initial attempts to approach Shatrughan, Zaheer quiped, "A couple of times when I visited them, 6-8 bodyguards stood around, how was it possible to ask for her hand in marriage then?” This audience was left in splits.

Sonakshi added with a chuckle, “Then he told me, ‘I think we are ready to talk to the parents,’ and I said, ‘Yeah, so speak to them.’”

Zaheer defended himself, “Why should I speak to them? I have spoken to my father, you should speak to yours.”

Sonakshi smilingly admitted, “He had a point, so I went to my father and spoke to him, and he was happy, so everyone was happy.”
