Subhash Ghai's iconic film Karz was celebrated at The Red Lorry Film Festival on March 21, bringing together key members of its team. The veteran filmmaker shared a nostalgic moment on Instagram, posting a picture alongside Simi Garewal, Neetu Kapoor, and Tina Munim Ambani from the special event.
The caption read, "REUNION OF ALL STARS OF “ KARZ’ TODAY created an emotional moment by paying TRIBUTE to RISHI KAPOOR followed by screening of KARZ at Inox Mumbai. Simi Grewal, Neetu Kapoor, and Tina Munim Ambani reunited to celebrate 45 years of the cult classic Karz. Neetu Kapoor attended the event on behalf of her late husband, reminiscing about the film that remains one of his most memorable performances.
During the Q&A session, director Subhash Ghai shared an interesting behind-the-scenes story from Karz. He revealed that the iconic song Dard-E-Dil, Dard-E-Jigar Dil Mein Jagaaya Aap Ne, featuring Rishi Kapoor, was filmed without the involvement of a choreographer. This decision surprised Rishi Kapoor, who questioned Ghai, asking, "Do you have any sense of music?" The anecdote left the audience amused, highlighting the camaraderie and creative energy that shaped the film.
For those unfamiliar with Karz, the film tells the gripping tale of Ravi, a man who is tragically murdered by his wife soon after their marriage. He is reincarnated as Monty, a successful singer, who, while on a holiday in Ooty, begins to recall memories from his past life. Determined to uncover the truth, he starts searching for his family and confronts his treacherous wife, Kamini, leading to a thrilling climax.
