On his 46th birthday, Emraan Hashmi gave his fans the ultimate gift — the official announcement of Awarapan 2, the long-awaited sequel to his 2007 film Awarapan. The announcement came on March 24 and instantly sparked excitement among fans who have held the original close to their hearts for over a decade.
Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Mukesh Bhatt under Vishesh Films, Awarapan may not have impressed the box office back in 2007, but over time it earned cult status thanks to its soulful music, dark themes, and Emraan’s powerful performance as Shivam. The movie also starred Shriya Saran and Mrinalini Sharma. Now, 19 years later, Hashmi is ready to return to the screen in a sequel that promises to continue — or spiritually extend — Shivam’s journey.
The actor took to social media to share a teaser and wrote, “Bas mujhe kuch aur der zinda rakh… #Awarapan2 in cinemas, 3rd April 2026.” The post was accompanied by a video montage featuring scenes from the original film, ending with a surprising twist: Shivam waking up. This has sparked speculation about whether the sequel will revive his character or take a more spiritual route.
While fans are thrilled, several questions remain unanswered. Will Shriya Saran reprise her role in the sequel? So far, the makers have not confirmed the female lead, leading to widespread fan theories and hopes about casting. The announcement has also put to rest recent rumors about a possible re-release of the original Awarapan, which was actually a teaser buildup for the sequel.
Interestingly, Hashmi and Saran were seen together last year in the Disney+ Hotstar series Showtime, rekindling nostalgic excitement among fans. Although they didn’t play romantic leads, their chemistry was enough to spark anticipation for a possible reunion on the big screen.
Besides Awarapan 2, Emraan Hashmi is also gearing up for his upcoming film Ground Zero, set to release in April 2025. The teaser of the film will reportedly be attached to Salman Khan’s much-awaited movie Sikandar.
For Emraan Hashmi fans, Awarapan 2 is more than just a sequel — it’s the revival of an emotional journey that they’ve cherished for years. And with a release date set for April 3, 2026, the countdown has officially begun.
