Rakesh Roshan chooses Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor as the modern-day Karan Arjun, here's what we know 

The iconic film 'Karan Arjun' is set to be re-released in theaters on November 22, and fans are buzzing with excitement.

In a recent interview, Rakesh Roshan was asked what would happen if 'Karan Arjun' were reimagined for today’s audiences. His answer is sure to blow your mind!

While Rakesh Roshan ruled out the possibility of a remake or sequel, he shared an exciting hypothetical vision for a modern-day pairing of Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor in the iconic roles of Karan and Arjun. This sparked a wave of excitement among fans, offering a glimpse into what could have been.

In a conversation with E Times, Rakesh Roshan said, "I won’t remake Karan Arjun or make a sequel but If I were to think of an alternate jodi for the movie today, I would cast Hrithik Roshan as Karan and Ranbir Kapoor as Arjun."

WHY WERE SALMAN KHAN AND SHAH RUKH KHAN CHOSEN FOR KARAN ARJUN?

Rakesh Roshan also reflected on the thoughtful casting of the original 'Karan Arjun', explaining that Salman Khan was chosen for the role of Karan due to his ahead-of-its-time physique and expressive eyes, which perfectly embodied the character’s quiet strength. He shared, “I wanted Karan to be a character whose eyes spoke volumes despite his quiet demeanor, and Salman perfectly fit this vision.”

As for Shah Rukh Khan, Rakesh Roshan revealed that his previous collaboration with SRK on 'King Uncle' (1993) and the actor's powerful performance in 'Fauji' made him the obvious choice for the role of Arjun. Roshan highlighted that Arjun was a character defined by emotional depth and resilience, qualities that SRK brought to life perfectly.

The director also shared that the film faced skepticism during its conception. “Reincarnation was a popular theme in love stories at the time, but the mother-son angle had not been explored much," he said. The emotional weight of a mother praying for her sons’ resurrection became the story’s heart and the reason for its enduring appeal.

Hrithik Roshan took to Instagram to announce the re-release of his father's iconic film 'Karan Arjun'. He wrote, "Cinema was never the same again... When Karan Arjun came together on the big screen for the first time ever. Re-live the reincarnation of Karan Arjun in theatres worldwide from 22nd November 2024!" Hrithik, who worked as an assistant director on the film, has also lent his voice for the new trailer, adding a personal touch to the re-release.
