Neelam Kothari, recently seen in Netflix's Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, spoke about her earlier days as an actress. Speaking about the nuances of being an actress during those days, she addressed the rumours in which she was linked up with actor Govinda with who she has done films including Ilzaam, Love 86, Taaqatwar and more.
In an interview with Hauterfly, she addressed rumors of a link-up with Govinda, stating that there was no truth to them. She explained that the speculation largely emerged from their frequent on-screen pairings in several films, fueled by media reports.
Talking about the same, “I think link ups was part of the whole game. There was no one to clarify. They just printed whatever they felt like and to be honest I feel like in those days we were scared of the press. Because it was the power of the pen and it was just part of it. If you did more than 2-3 films, it was just understood that… (you were dating).”
Neelam was a prominent star in Hindi cinema during the 1980s and 1990s. After making her debut in 1985. Neelam and Govinda appeared in several films like Ghar Mein Ram Gali Mein Shyam, Hatya, Do Qaidi to name a few.
In the late '90s, she stepped away from acting to concentrate on her jewelry business. However, she recently made a comeback to the entertainment world with the reality show Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives.
Neelam married actor Samir Soni in 2011, while Govinda has been married to Sunita in 1987.
