As Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar continues to dominate the box office, several celebrities, including Hrithik Roshan, have heaped praise on the film and its actors’ performances. However, the War 2 actor also faced backlash for his comments about the movie.
Hrithik took to Instagram on Wednesday to share his thoughts on Dhurandhar, offering both appreciation and criticism.
He wrote, "I love cinema, I love people who climb into a vortex and let the story take control, spin them, shake them until what they want to say is purged out of them onto that screen. DHURANDHAR is an example of that. Loved the storytelling. It's cinema." Expressing his reservations about the Ranveer-starrer, he added, "I may disagree with the politics of it, and argue about the responsibilities us filmmakers should bear as citizens of the world. Nevertheless, can't ignore how I loved and learnt from this one as a student of cinema. Amazing."
Hrithik’s nuanced review, however, did not sit well with netizens, who trolled him for what they perceived as hypocritical views. One user commented, “Since when exposing Pakistan’s terrorism becomes ‘politics’ or are you trying to say what Pakistan has done with India is not an act of terrorism!!?”
Another netizen wrote, "I have no idea who they are really afraid of! But this whole soft sidelining of Dhurandhar by Bollywood speaks for itself. These are just some bunch of spineless hypocrites."
One more comment read, "Aur yeh woh keh raha hai jisne Fighter aur War 2 ki hai."
Many also pointed out his own films, with one user stating, "His own movies, Fiza, Mission Kashmir, Jodha Akbar, War were not propaganda. But this sasta Akbar is calling Dhurandhar a propaganda on Instagram."
Amid the criticism, Hrithik returned to social media to share another poster of Dhurandhar, once again praising the film.
He wrote, "Still can't get DHURANDHAR out of my mind. @AdityaDharFilms you are an incredible maker man. @RanveerOfficial the silent to the fierce what a journey and so damn consistent. #akshayekhanna has always been my fav and this film is proof why. @ActorMadhavan bloody mad grace, strength and dignity!! But man @bolbedibol what you did was phenomenal.. what an ACT, brilliant !! A huge big round of applause for everyone especially the makeup and prosthetics dept! I can't wait for part 2 !!!"
Released on December 5, Dhurandhar features a powerful ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt. The film continues to perform strongly at the box office, gaining momentum with each passing day. In just six days, it has amassed an impressive Rs 180 crore in India.
