The highly anticipated film Kubera featuring a star-studded cast including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Dhanush, and Rashmika Mandanna, is facing a potential legal hurdle regarding its title. According to reports, a Telugu film producer, Karimakonda Narender, has claimed ownership of the title, creating a conflict that could impact the film's release.

The controversy stems from Narender's assertion that he registered the title "Kubera" with the Telugu Film Producers Council in November 2023, well before Sekhar Kammula's production began. Narender alleges that he has already commenced work on his own project, with a significant portion of the filming already completed.

"I had already registered the name ‘Kubera’ for a film of my own with the Telugu Film Producers Council in November 2023," Narender stated, as reported by 123 Telugu. He further accused director Sekhar Kammula of title infringement, demanding either a title change or compensation for his incurred losses.

"Karimakonda Narender even accused director Sekhar Kammula of title infringement as a result and demanded that the latter must either change the name of his film or else compensate for the losses incurred by him," the report elaborated.

Narender has also sought the intervention of the Telugu Film Chamber to resolve the dispute, emphasizing the need for justice for his film. This request highlights the seriousness of his claims and his determination to protect his registered title.

"He has also requested the Telugu Film Chamber to intervene in this matter and ensure justice is delivered for his film," the report detailed.
Despite these allegations, Sekhar Kammula and the "Kubera" team have yet to release an official statement. The film, which has completed its shooting, is currently in post-production. The lack of response from the filmmakers has left fans speculating about the potential impact of this controversy.

Adding to the intrigue, Sekhar Kammula previously shared his experience of working with Dhanush. In an interview with Cinema Vikatan, he revealed his initial hesitation to approach the actor.

"When the story was ready, I was hesitant to narrate it to Dhanush. I was worried and doubted whether he knew me or not," Kammula confessed. However, his concerns were quickly dispelled when Dhanush expressed his familiarity with Kammula's work. "However, when I called him, he surprised me and talked about his favorite films out of my filmography," Kammula recounted.
