After concluding the hug event for BTS’ FESTA 2024, Jin enthusiastically kicked off the second part of BTS FESTA 2024 on the evening of June 13, KST. The adored singer thrilled fans with electrifying performances of his hit songs The Astronaut and Moon, captivating the audience with his dynamic stage presence as fans cheered him on.
In addition, Jin surprised everyone by presenting a new version of his viral trot song, Super Tuna. As the grand performance came to a close, Jin excitedly revealed that this new version of Super Tuna would be released soon.
On December 4, 2021, BTS' Jin celebrated his birthday by gifting ARMYs with his original trot song, Super Tuna, along with a delightful music video filmed at Dockweiler Beach in Playa Del Rey, California. What started as a heartfelt gift quickly turned into a viral dance challenge. Feeling somewhat embarrassed by the sudden trend, Jin expressed his shyness on Weverse, asking ARMYs to stop participating.
He was concerned that the song's popularity might lead to increased demands from his label, BIGHIT MUSIC, possibly even leading to the addition of a second verse to the already short one-minute track. Despite Jin's initial reservations, Super Tuna has remained a favourite among ARMYs.
It seems Jin's concerns were realised. On June 13, just a day after his military discharge, he joined ARMYs in celebrating BTS' 11th anniversary at the 2024 FESTA. Not only did he host the highly anticipated hug event, but he also treated fans to live performances of his songs.
In a surprising twist, Jin performed Super Tuna live for the first time, catching everyone off guard. This live debut lasted longer than the recorded version. Jin had prepared an extended version, adding a second verse. Some dedicated ARMYs even transcribed and translated the new lyrics. Jin revealed that he had been discussing this second verse with producer Bumzu and hinted at an official release in the works.
At FESTA 2024, Jin took the stage to reflect on his time in the military, blending humour with heartfelt sincerity. He shared stories of his emotional farewell from camp and lighthearted moments, such as playfully asking younger trainees born after 2004 to call him uncle.
A highlight of the event was Jin's enthusiastic participation in trending challenges. Embracing his playful nature, Jin tackled these challenges during the live performance. His rendition of the "cat across the Han river" challenge brought laughter and cheers from the crowd. Additionally, his dance performance to fellow bandmate Jungkook's Seven delighted fans.
