“Ramayana as a subject deeply resonates with me, and I had an approach in mind for it. By joining forces to co-produce 'Ramayana,’ we are bringing together our collective vision and experience to create an Indian film that will ignite excitement and passion in audiences across the world,” he told the website.
Yash (Naveen Kumar Gowda), who will be seen in the role of Rakshas Raj Raavan in the movie, said that their vision is to translate this epic onto the silver screen.
“We believe we know the Ramayana well, yet each time it unveils fresh wisdom, ignites new knowledge, and offers unique perspectives. Our vision is to translate this timeless epic onto the silver screen. It will be a grand spectacle, honouring its scale, but at its core, it will be an honest and faithful portrayal of the story, emotions, and values we hold dear. This is a journey to share the Ramayana with the world,” said Yash.
Further in his interview with Variety, Yash said for the longest time he had wanted to ‘showcase Indian cinema on a global level’. And it was during one of his visits to LA that he met Namit, and the two decided to come together for Ramayana.
The official announcement about ‘Ramayana’ is expected to be made on April 17, which is the Navami of Chaitra Navratri.
Besides Ranbir, Sai, and Yash, reports suggest that Sunny Deol will be seen in the role of Hanuman.
A few days ago, photos of Lara Dutta and Arun Govil playing the roles of Kaikeyi and Raja Dashrath went viral, after which there were also reports that Nitesh Tiwari had stopped the entry of extra people on the sets and also imposed a no mobile phone policy.
Ranbir Kapoor has already started training for the role. He was also spotted learning archery and undergoing rigorous training to fit in the role of Lord Ram.
