The iconic Apsara theatre in Kerala's Kozhikode is all set to reopen once again and it has come as a great news for the residents and cinema lovers. The theatre, which was opened 52 years ago, was closed down in May 2023.
Apsara theatre is a single screen and close to 1000 people can watch a movie together and it is one of the biggest in Kerala.
The theatre has been taken over by Listin Stephen's Magic Frames and now the theatre will be renamed as 'Magic Frames Apsara'.
The Apsara theatre is being refurbished now and it is being given a new sound system and technical work is being done too.
The new and improved Magic Frames Apsara is going to open its gates for movie goers on May 23.
Apsara Theatre was first inaugurated on 8 August 1971 by Malayalam actors Prem Naseer and Sharada with a 70.70 mm screen.
The family-owned single screen theatre was founded by Thomman Joseph Kochupuraikal.
Apsara was Kerala's largest air-conditioned theatre and one of few theaters in Kerala with more than 1000 seating capacity.
