Production has commenced on The Devil Wears Prada 2, and it’s set to reunite the iconic ensemble: Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci—all returning to their celebrated roles from the 2006 original.
The sequel sees the addition of Kenneth Branagh, who will portray the husband of Miranda Priestly (Streep), the formidable editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. Disney’s 20th Century Studios teased the news on Instagram, featuring nothing more than a pair of striking red stilettos as a nod to the film’s iconic glamour.
Like its predecessor—based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel—the sequel is expected to revisit the high-stakes realm of fashion publishing. While plot specifics remain under wraps, reports indicate the story will centre on Miranda Priestly as she grapples with the evolving landscape of magazine journalism.
She crosses paths with Emily Blunt’s character, who has since transitioned into a prestigious role within a luxury group that controls the advertising revenue Priestly so desperately needs. At this time, it's unclear how Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs will be woven into the narrative; her character famously left Runway for a career in newspapers at the end of the first film.

Reuniting behind the scenes are director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, both of whom were instrumental in shaping the tone and success of the original. With their return, expectations are high for the sequel to capture the wit, style, and compelling character arcs that defined the first film.
Setting its sights on a May Day release, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is slated to premiere in cinemas on 1 May 2026, promising to bring back the irresistible mix of cutting humour and couture allure that fans adored.
