Kim Soo hyun fans appoint lawyer to save him

Legal action has been taken by fans of South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun to protect him from an increasing amount of online harassment. The Kim Soo-hyun Korea and Global Fan Alliance announced on April 22 that they had hired Yang Tae-young from Lawfirm Siwoo to defend the actor against what they called "malicious comments, rumours, lies, hate remarks, and harassment" directed at him on social media.

The legal action is intended to safeguard Kim Soo-hyun's reputation, according to the fan group, which has also started a worldwide petition in support of the Queen of Tears star.

“We believe it is our rightful duty as fans to protect the reputation of the actor,” the group said in a statement. The alliance, which includes fans from both South Korea and internationally, expressed their determination to stand against the ongoing attacks. “We cannot ignore the continuous derogatory insults, false rumours, defamation, and personal attacks aimed at actor Kim Soo-hyun and hereby appoint Yang Tae-young as our legal attorney,” the statement continued.

In their pursuit of a "healthy fan culture", the alliance emphasised that Kim Soo-hyun has remained dedicated to his craft over the years. They concluded their statement by asserting that they would take "firm measures against any malicious attempts to halt our efforts."

Earlier this year, on March 31, Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference to address accusations tied to the tragic case of actress Kim Sae-ron. Expressing his regrets, he denied the allegations and vowed to prove his innocence. "Firstly, I am sorry. Because of me, I think so many people are suffering. And also I feel sorry that the late actor [Kim Sae-ron] isn't able to rest in peace," he said during the press conference.

Kim Sae-ron, who tragically passed away on February 16, coinciding with Kim Soo-hyun’s birthday, was found dead in her residence in Seoul. Authorities have ruled her death as suicide, according to reports from Korean media.
