When it comes to pan-India blockbusters, very few films have left an impact as massive as KGF: Chapter 2. According to IMDb’s 25 years of Indian Cinema report, the film has emerged as the most viewed movie in the rest of India outside the southern states, a testament to its extraordinary reach and cultural pull. Released in 2022, the Yash-starrer was more than just a sequel; it was a phenomenon that broke records, drew audiences back to theatres in the post-pandemic era, and redefined the standards for commercial Indian cinema.

The top ten list reflects the changing tastes of Indian audiences across regions. Following KGF: Chapter 2 is Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2, another highly anticipated sequel that shows the growing dominance of southern storytelling. Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, takes the third spot, proving that Hindi cinema still has the power to deliver mass-appeal blockbusters when backed by scale and emotion. Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1 and RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) continue the southern streak, both being celebrated worldwide for their raw energy and universal themes.

The list further includes Saiyaara, a newer entrant that has managed to carve out a strong space among big-budget films, alongside crowd-pullers like Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan’s return to mass action spectacle, and 12th Fail, which resonated deeply with aspirational audiences across the country. Jai Bhim and Kantara, both socially rooted yet cinematic in their approach, round off the top ten, proving that authentic regional narratives can command attention at a national level.

What stands out is the balance between spectacle and relatability. Big-ticket action dramas like KGF and Pushpa share space with films like 12th Fail and Jai Bhim, indicating that Indian audiences are embracing both high-octane entertainment and grounded storytelling. With KGF: Chapter 2 leading the pack, the message is clear: cinema that blends scale, emotion, and strong narratives has the power to cross all linguistic and regional boundaries.
