The brief from Sandeep Reddy Vanga was clear: Ranbir Kapoor’s look should be reminiscent of a rockstar, an avatar not previously seen on him. This character, Ranvijay, is portrayed as a diehard Michael Jackson fan. This passion is woven into the film’s narrative, particularly in a poignant climax scene where Ranvijay's admiration for Jackson is revealed. In this scene, Ranbir’s character pleads with his father, played by Anil Kapoor, to attend a Michael Jackson concert, emphasizing his deep connection to the pop icon.

Drawing inspiration from Michael Jackson’s iconic style, Hakim crafted a look that included a loose ponytail with textured hair, complemented by a stylish hair flick falling on the face. This hairstyle was designed to evoke the essence of Jackson while still fitting the personality of Ranvijay. Hakim balanced this homage to Jackson with subtle elements that ensured the character’s individuality remained intact.

Hakim shared that the transformation was not just about replicating Jackson’s hairstyle but also about capturing the spirit and energy of the character. The entry scene of Ranvijay, where he is seen riding a bike, smoking a cigarette, and performing the famous MJ Moonwalk, is enhanced by a captivating background score, making it one of Hakim’s favorite scenes.

As a longtime fan of Michael Jackson, Hakim found personal joy in this project. His admiration for Jackson was a driving force behind his creative approach. Reflecting on the 1990s, Hakim recalled the universal appeal of Jackson, noting how many, including himself, had posters of the King of Pop in their rooms. This personal connection added an extra layer of passion and dedication to his work on 'Animal.'

In 'Animal,' Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Ranvijay, with his Michael Jackson-inspired hairstyle, is a testament to the meticulous effort and creativity of the team behind the scenes. The collaboration between Aalim Hakim and Sandeep Reddy Vanga brought to life a character that resonates with flair and depth, paying homage to the legendary King of Pop while crafting a unique identity for Ranvijay.
