Filipino influencer Gina Lima, 23, died on November 16, and in a heartbreaking turn of events, her ex-boyfriend Ivan Cezar Ronquillo, 24, passed away just three days later.
According to The Philippine Daily Inquirer, Lima was rushed to a hospital in Quezon City by Ronquillo, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.
A medico-legal report from the Quezon City Police District’s Forensic Unit noted that she had nonfatal external injuries, fluid in her lungs, and a congested heart. Her exact cause of death is still unknown, with toxicology and histopathology results awaited.
QCPD spokesperson Police Major Jennifer Gannaban told the media that marijuana and various medications were found in the room where Lima was discovered unresponsive.
Lima was a rising social media personality, known for her modeling and lifestyle content, with over 423,000 followers on Facebook and 182,000 on Instagram. Ronquillo, who posted fitness-related content, had more than 34,000 followers on Instagram.
On the morning of November 19, Ronquillo was found dead in the stairway of his home in Quezon City and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police Lt. Col. Edison Ouano, head of the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said his death is being investigated as an alleged suicide by hanging.

A day before he died, Ronquillo posted three emotional Facebook tributes to Lima, sharing photos and videos of their memories together. In his last post, Ronquillo wrote, "I love you so much, Gina. I can never do it without you by my side."
Police have also confirmed that Ronquillo was never a person of interest in Lima’s case. They are now looking into the online harassment he received after her death as part of their ongoing investigation.
