Adah Sharma, known for her pathbreaking role in 'The Kerala Story,' discussed various aspects of her career and experiences in the film industry. In a recent interview with Moneycontrol.com, she talked about her upcoming action film 'Criminal or Devil,' her openness to changing her hairstyle for roles, and her commitment to authenticity in her performances. Despite the unpredictability of the industry, especially for outsiders, she remains passionate about acting.

How Adah manages to stay in the headlines with her versatile roles

Adah:  "I try to be as honest as I can to each role. I don't think about making headlines; I think about what the character would do in a situation, how she would react, and what she would feel. I try to get into that character's mind."

Her dream role

"Since I'm a graduate in Kathak, I would love to do a film that involves dancing someday, hopefully in this lifetime."

Initial days in the industry and struggles

"It's so rare when one can make a living off something they love doing. When dreams and reality collide, it's strange to call it a struggle then. Struggle is dealing with wisdom tooth pain and taking painkillers. When you aren't from the industry, you don't know if you'll ever get another movie again. Being signed and then replaced in a movie puts you on such an emotional rollercoaster. And when you do get a role to perform, imagine the emotions you get to use from your real life!"

Views about other actresses and whether she watches their performances or films

"I think all the actresses are brilliant and beautiful. I watch all films because I love watching movies. I love seeing how people interpret different characters, irrespective of what gender they are."

Adah's views on not receiving many awards for her role in 'Kerala Story', despite it being a blockbuster

"It would be very disrespectful to the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards, the Zee Cine Awards, and others who gave me an award for 'Kerala Story' to say I didn't get awards. Yes, I feel very fortunate to be a part of a film that is the highest-grossing film with a female lead of all time! The awards you are speaking of, I presume I didn't win because I wasn't nominated in the top female performances of the year, but you will definitely get your answer if you ask the respected jury members."

Adah on her film, 'Criminal Or Devil'

"I actually have a few films that have been ready and are awaiting release. 'Criminal or Devil' has me doing some killer action scenes."

Adah on embracing short hair

"As an actor, I'm okay with having hair like Rapunzel or being bald for a role. In real life, it's fun to experiment with a cut or color for photoshoots, but in a film, I like to be very authentic to the character."
