Coldplay’s much-anticipated Mumbai concert at DY Patil Stadium kicked off with electrifying energy, leaving fans in awe. While the band’s stellar performances were the highlight, frontman Chris Martin stole the show with his heartfelt attempt to connect with the audience by speaking in Hindi.
In a viral video from the concert, Martin greeted the crowd warmly in Hindi, saying, "Good evening everybody. Aap sabka bohot swagat hai. Mumbai mein aakar humein bohot khushi ho rahi hai." (Welcome everyone. We are very happy to be in Mumbai.)
The crowd erupted in cheers and applause, delighted by his effort to speak their language. Martin continued, sharing the band’s excitement, "We are so happy to be here. This is our first real show in India. So thank you. Namaste."
The Mumbai concert marks Coldplay’s return to India after their 2016 performance at the Global Citizen Festival. This time, they are performing five shows as part of their world tour—three at DY Patil Stadium on January 18, 19, and 21, and two at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25 and 26.

Ahead of the concert, Chris Martin was spotted at the Gateway of India, where he opted for a speedboat ride to Navi Mumbai, avoiding the city’s notorious traffic. Fans loved his casual and cheerful demeanour as he greeted paparazzi with a polite “Namaste.”
Martin arrived in Mumbai with his girlfriend, actress Dakota Johnson. The couple visited Shri Babulnath Temple, and Dakota was later seen at Siddhivinayak Temple with Sonali Bendre and Gayatri Oberoi.
