A funny little story from Cha Eun Woo’s military service is doing the rounds online, and fans can’t stop laughing about it. The ASTRO singer-actor, who enlisted in July 2025, apparently had a run-in with his instructor over… plums.

According to a post on Korean forum The Qoo, Eun Woo was spotted with something bulging in his uniform pockets during training at the Yeoncheon centre. When questioned, he didn’t flinch.

He simply said, “They’re plums!” Turns out, he’d pocketed the fruit from the meal earlier that day, thinking they weren’t ripe enough to eat just yet.

The exchange went a bit like this:

Instructor: (Looking at his pockets) What is in your pockets?
Cha Eun Woo: They’re plums!
Instructor: Why are you taking them instead of eating them?
Cha Eun Woo: I was going to take them and eat them when they are ripe.
Instructor: Those plums can be eaten right now.
Cha Eun Woo: Is that so? I wasn’t aware.
Instructor: Broadcast it right away!
Broadcasting room: Ah Ah! (Mic check) Among the fruits prepared today, the plums may look unripe and green, but they are ripe, so they can be eaten right away.”

Within hours, the “plum story” was everywhere online. Fans cracked up at how honest Eun Woo was and how the incident ended up being announced across the entire base. Some even looked up the type of plums served to confirm that, yes, they can look green while being perfectly edible.
