BTS' RM gets candid about his special moment with Jungkook post military enlistment; talks about their 'first drink together'

That quiet evening over drinks became a symbol of how much time and relationships had evolved for BTS.

Freshly discharged from military duty, BTS leader RM had a solo live session to reconnect with fans, and boy did it become one of his most emotional broadcasts yet! While the entire live was packed with nostalgic memories, one moment stood out, about RM sharing his first-ever drink with Jungkook.

Opening up about recent meetups with fellow BTS members during their military leave, RM said, “Since Jimin-ie and Jungkook-ie are coming back tomorrow… During their military leave, I actually met up with them separately for a drink and to chat.” But it was his hangout with Jungkook that marked a surprising personal first. “With Jimin-ie, we met up at his house once, and with Jungkook-ie, I took him to a place I like, and for the first time ever, the two of us had drinks together."

The significance of that moment hit harder when RM admitted he wasn’t always a drinker. “I used to never drink at all, maybe just a beer? But I only started drinking after Jin-hyung enlisted in 2023, for various reasons, haha. So back when Jungkook-ie would occasionally drink, I wouldn’t join him."

That quiet evening over drinks became a symbol of how much time and relationships had evolved for BTS. “We first met when we were 15 and 18, and now we’re 29 and 32, sitting together for a drink outside. It felt really nice, the vibe was great,” RM shared. The conversation left him feeling deeply grateful. “Honestly, they’re both amazing, and I feel like I have so much to learn from them. I owe them so much.”

But the most stirring part of the live came when RM turned to ARMY. “Damnnn miss you, ARMYs. I was in the army, but I couldn’t see you in the army, you know what I mean? I was in the army, but there was no ARMY,” he said, capturing the aching void felt during his service.
