Actor Sooraj Pancholi has finally addressed the ongoing rumours claiming that he’s decided to leave the film industry.
The Hero actor, who made his Bollywood debut in 2015, took to Instagram to set the record straight after several reports suggested he was stepping away from acting.
Sooraj, the son of actors Zarina Wahab and Aditya Pancholi, has faced many obstacles along the way.
On Wednesday, Sooraj shared a short but firm message on his Instagram Story addressing speculation about him quitting films.
“There are a few articles out there stating that I have quit films. Let me clarify, that is not at all true,” he wrote.
In an effort to prevent needless criticism or rumours, the actor also turned off comments on his post. The explanation followed a number of internet rumours that Sooraj was quitting the business after going through a challenging time in his personal life.
He had a promising start to his career when he made his film debut opposite Athiya Shetty in Hero, which was produced by Salman Khan.
In 2019, he followed it up with Satellite Shankar, a movie that demonstrated his adaptability and sense of patriotism. But in recent years, he has frequently made headlines for reasons unrelated to his job.
The tragic Jiah Khan case, which had a long-lasting effect on his career and personal life, significantly influenced that phase.
When Jiah was discovered dead in her Mumbai home in 2013, Sooraj, who was dating her at the time, was charged with aiding and abetting her suicide.
His career and public image suffered as the case continued for almost ten years. One of the most tumultuous periods of Sooraj's life came to an end in 2023 when he was acquitted following years of hearings and scrutiny.
Earlier this year, Sooraj made a comeback to the big screen with Kesari Veer, a historical drama about unsung heroes who battled to save the temple of Somnath.
The film, which starred Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, and debutante Akanksha Sharma, signalled Sooraj's steady return despite getting mixed reviews.
