Sooraj Pancholi on why mom Zarina Wahab never left Aditya Pancholi despite his affairs, 'it’s her decision to stay'

Bollywood actor Sooraj Pancholi made a comeback to the silver screen recently with Kesari Veer. The actor had been away from movies for almost four years and he had earlier told Moneycontrol that during that period, he was working on himself.

Now in a podcast with Hindi Rush, Sooraj touched upon many things including his period in jail for Jiah Khan's death by suicide, his difficult period and why his mother Zarina Wahab never left his father Aditya Pancholi despite knowing of his affairs.

In a very rare moment, Sooraj Pancholi spoke about how his mother Zarina Wahab actually ‘holds the whole family together.’

“She (Zarina Wahab) holds the entire family together, and she has really been through a lot because of us. I have never, ever seen her break down. She has never complained about anything," he said during the podcast.

Sooraj reiterated on the fact that his mother is an independent woman and it was her decision to not leave and that 'its an understanding between them and I am in no position to comment on their arrangement.'

"She has been acting since the age of 16. She is almost 65 now. She is self-made. She has four homes of her own. She doesn’t come from money. If she wanted to leave, she could have done it long back. Sometimes, women don’t leave because they don’t have a backup… My father never stopped her from working. He never questioned her about the work. If she had a route to go back to Hyderabad; she has a home in Bandra also… She has her mother’s home in Bandra. She has four sisters, one of them is in America. She has four brothers. She could have left any time, but it’s her decision to stay. I am nobody to judge this, its an understanding between them and I am in no position to comment on their arrangement," he added.

Sooraj Pancholi is the son of veteran actors Zarina Wahab and Aditya Pancholi. The couple got married in 1986.

Sooraj Pancholi has a sister Sana Pancholi.

Aditya was once rumoured to have been in a relationahip with actresses Pooja Bedi and Kangana Ranaut.

On the work front, Sooraj was last seen in Kesari Veer. The film released in theatres on May 23.
