Ranbir Kapoor faces backlash for allegedly eating non-vegetarian food amidst reports of him following 'satwik' diet for Lord Ram's role In Ramayana

Ranbir Kapoor, who is currently shooting for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War, has landed in controversy after a video showed him eating non-vegetarian food, contradicting earlier claims that he had adopted a sattvic lifestyle for his role as Lord Ram.

Previous reports had claimed that Ranbir had adopted a strict sattvic lifestyle as a personal commitment for Ramayana.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor is currently juggling two major films—Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War. But this week, the actor found himself at the centre of criticism after a video surfaced showing him eating non-vegetarian food, contradicting earlier reports that he had given up meat and alcohol to prepare for his role as Lord Ram.

Previous reports had claimed that Ranbir had adopted a strict sattvic lifestyle as a personal commitment for Ramayana.

He had supposedly quit smoking, stopped drinking, and shifted to a highly disciplined routine with meditation and early-morning workouts to embody the spiritual and composed nature associated with Lord Ram.

However, a new clip from the Netflix show Dining With The Kapoors, released to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Raj Kapoor, shows Ranbir happily enjoying non-vegetarian dishes such as fish curry, mutton, and paya during a family lunch. The video immediately went viral, prompting heavy trolling from users who accused him of being dishonest.

Many online comments targeted his publicity team, claiming they exaggerated or fabricated his lifestyle changes for promotional reasons.

One widely shared post said, “PR teams of Bollywood actors should be fired, especially those of Ranbir and Alia Bhatt. They don’t even check old videos before making such claims. Why say he quit non-veg and alcohol? Who asked? If they had stayed quiet, they wouldn’t be facing this backlash now.” Another user simply wrote, “Jhoot hai jhoot.” A third comment read, “Ranbir Kapoor’s PR said he quit non-veg out of respect for playing Lord Ram, but he is seen enjoying fish curry, mutton and paya with his family. Ranbir Kapoor has the most effective PR in Bollywood. #DiningWithTheKapoors.”

Despite the trolling, excitement around Ramayana remains high. The first-look release created a massive buzz, and the film is planned as a two-part saga—Part 1 arriving on Diwali 2026 and Part 2 on Diwali 2027. The cast includes Yash, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, and several others in key roles.
