Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, and Vivek Oberoi returned in Mastiii 4 after 9 years on Friday. However, the Milap Zaveri-directed film saw stagnant box office receipts.
According to a trade website, Mastiii 4 earns Rs 2.5 crore net in India on Friday. The adult comedy drama registered 9.98% Hindi language occupancy with 5.55% footfall in morning shows, 9.06% in afternoon, 9.91% evening and 15.40% night shows.
Despite the success of Masti and Grand Masti, the third instalment in the Masti franchise did not impress the viewers.
The Masti franchise's second instalment brought in Rs 12.5 crore at the Indian box office in 2013, while the third instalment brought in Rs 2.5 crore in 2016.
Despite having a comedic premise and a star-studded cast, the movie was not as successful as its predecessors. On the day of its release, the team held a promotional event in Jaipur.
Produced by Cine1 Studios, Waveband Productions, Maruti International, M Four Film, and Berkeley Media Group, it has a duration of two hours and twenty-four minutes.
The film, which was shot in Sussex, Bedfordshire, Birmingham, and the West Midlands of England, is about three unhappy husbands who want to end their dull marriages. The film, which is full of chaos, laughter, and an exhilarating ride, explores thrill and liberation but has an unexpected twist as the husbands look for relationships outside of their marriages.
Mastii 4 features an ensemble cast including Elnaaz Norouzi, Shreya Sharma, Ruhi Singh, Sammy Jonas Heaney, Arshad Warsi, Nargis Fakhri, Natalia Janoszek, Jeetendra, Genelia Deshmukh, Shaad Randhawa and Tusshar Kapoor, besides lead actors Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani and Vivek Oberoi.
