Abhishek Bachchan has once again reminded audiences why he is loved both on and off the screen. The actor recently took home the Best Actor Award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne for his moving role in I Want To Talk, a film helmed by celebrated director Shoojit Sircar.
The story, inspired by the real-life struggles of Arjun Sen in his fight against cancer, gave Abhishek the perfect canvas to showcase his depth and sensitivity as an actor.
But while his craft on screen won him accolades, it was his trademark humour that won hearts at the festival. Known for his wit and self-deprecating charm, Abhishek didn’t miss a chance to entertain when asked to pick between his parents—Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan—for shopping or dining out. His answer had everyone laughing.
"I am my parents’ only son. I am the younger sibling with my sister and myself. I was traumatically dressed by my mother until the age of 12. I never go shopping with my mother. I prefer that she is Bengali. So, Bengalis make the best food, right? So, I prefer to be with my mother for food and with my dad for shopping."
The honesty, sprinkled with humour, gave a glimpse into the actor’s playful side and the affectionate family dynamics that audiences rarely get to see.
His mischief didn’t end there. On the red carpet, Abhishek created yet another memorable moment by taking a journalist’s phone and pretending to slip it into his pocket, only to burst out laughing and hand it back. The light-hearted prank left both the press and the crowd in fits of laughter, a reminder that he knows how to charm even without a script.

Professionally, the actor is in an exciting phase. After back-to-back projects like I Want To Talk and Kaalidhar Laapata, Abhishek is now reportedly working on King, a film that also features Shah Rukh Khan.
Though yet to be officially announced, his father Amitabh Bachchan confirmed his involvement through a teasing tweet. The film, currently being shot, boasts a star-studded cast with Rani Mukerji, Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Arshad Warsi.
Clearly, Abhishek Bachchan is in a golden chapter of his career—balancing intense, meaningful performances with the effortless humour that makes him so endearing to audiences everywhere.
