Michelin-starred Chef Vikas Khanna hosted an exclusive event at his NYC restaurant, Bungalow, to celebrate Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao's Lost Ladies (Laapataa Ladies) as India's official entry for the 2025 Oscars. The evening honored the film’s selection and showcased Khanna’s culinary artistry while bringing attention to this important milestone in Indian cinema.
Aamir Khan’s social-drama Laapataa Ladies has been selected as India’s official entry for the 97th Academy Awards in 2025. Ahead of the prestigious event, Aamir is currently in New York City for the Oscars campaign of his production, which is being released in the U.S. under the title Lost Ladies.
The Chef shared several pictures from the event in his restaurant featuring Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Prabal Rana Gurang, Jyoti Deshpande from Jio studios and the crew members of Laapataa Ladies. He penned a heartfelt note along with the pictures that read, "Jab dil se Dua atti hai, “Jeet lo duniya”. This is exactly what I felt yesterday when we were hosting Oscar Campaigning event of Lost Ladies (Laapataa Ladies) at Bungalow."
Praising Kiran Rao for her film, he said, "Kiran you are a true artist to create such an iconic film."
Vikas Khanna praised Aamir Khan for his thoughtful interaction with young chef Mysha, highlighting the actor’s warmth. He also commended Jyoti Deshpande, a representative from Jio Studios, for her enthusiasm and support, acknowledging her contributions to the event. "Aamir Sir, you are the KINDEST. The way you engaged & loved & respected Mysha was everything to me. (See pic 2 & 6) Jyoti your genuineness & everygy to support South Asian Arts is inspiring. Your journey defines an Indian value system of “always there for you like a family," he continued.
Aamir Khan also paid his respects to Vikas' late sister Radhika Khanna who unfortunately passed away in 2022 due to an autoimmune disease.

He wrapped up the post by expressing his admiration and deep affection for American fashion designer Prabal Rana Gurung. "Prabal you are an inspiration to millions. You lift so many of us as you rise. Shine forever."
Laapataa Ladies, co-produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Kindling Pictures, and Jio Studios, addresses the issue of missing brides in the fictional state of Nirmal Pradesh, inspired by Uttar Pradesh. The film features a talented cast including Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastav, and Ravi Kishan in key roles, shedding light on a poignant social issue.
