As per the trends available at 14:55 PM, former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar continues to maintain a steady lead against Congress leader Divyanshu Budhiraja.
Voting for all the 10 Lok Sabha constituencies in Haryana took place on May 25 during the sixth phase of the seven-phase general election.
About Karnal Lok Sabha constituency:
The Karnal parliamentary constituency in Haryana encompasses nine assembly segments spread across Karnal and Panipat districts. These include six represented by the BJP, including, Indri, Karnal, Gharaunda, Panipat Rural and Panipat city, and one by an Independent. The remaining three assembly segments of Assandh, Israna (a reserved constituency), and Samalkha are represented by Congress.
BJP won the Karnal parliamentary constituency in 2014 and 2019. In 2014, BJP’s Ashwini Kumar Chopra won by garnering over 49 percent of votes in the constituency. In 2019, BJP’s Sanjay Bhatia won by a record margin getting over 70 percent of the votes polled defeating Congress’ Kuldip Sharma.
However, the BJP has now fielded former CM Manohar Lal Khattar, in Bhatia’s place in Karnal parliamentary constituency. Khattar, who was the CM of Haryana for nearly a decade, resigned in March 2024 after the fall out with the alliance partner Dushyant Chautala led Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), over seat sharing in the Lok Sabha elections.
Khattar (70), the two time CM of the state, is up against Haryana Youth Congress chief Divyanshu Budhiraja (30).
