The dilemma staring the Mahayuti in Maharashtra on the question of chief ministership is likely to end with a BJP leader at the helm of affairs, multiple media reports citing sources said.
A report by Lokmat citing BJP sources said that the NDA is likely to pick a BJP leader to be appointed as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra after the historic win of the ruling alliance in the recently-concluded Assembly elections in the state.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis posted a two-line tweet in Hindi on his X handle. “Ek hain to safe hain. Modi hai to mumkin hai,” read his post. ‘Ek hain to safe hain’ was a campaign slogan coined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his campaign in the state.

The development comes after workers of the three Mahayuti alliance partners – BJP, NCP and Shiv Sena – raised the chorus for the appointment of the leaders of their respective parties as the chief minister.
However, the top leaders remained tight-lipped over the NDA’s choice as CM. Speaking to reporters after the NDA’s victory in the Maharashtra elections, CM Eknath Shinde expressed his gratitude to the people of the state for posing their faith in his party and the alliance.
He, however, skirted the question of reclaiming the CM’s post and said that the NDA will collectively take a call on the matter.
As per the trends and results available with the Election Commission of India, the Mahayuti is leading in 218 of 288 Assembly seats while the MVA is ahead in 51 seats and Others in 19 seats.
