NEET UG Re-exam 2025

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct a re-examination for NEET UG 2025 candidates who faced disruptions due to power outages at exam centers in Indore and Ujjain, as reported by Live Law. The decision comes after students reported difficulties during the May 4 exam, where a storm-induced blackout hampered their performance.

Court's Key Directives

  • Only students who filed petitions before June 3 (answer key release date) are eligible for the re-exam.
  • The revised NEET UG 2025 results will be considered for counseling and seat allocation.
  • The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) may face delays, as counseling (scheduled from July 1) will now depend on the re-exam outcome.
  • Justice Subodh Abhyankar emphasized that affected students suffered through no fault of their own, justifying a re-test.

In an unprecedented move, the court switched off all lights for 13 minutes to simulate the conditions faced by students during the exam. This experiment reinforced the petitioners' claims, leading to the favorable verdict.

Impact on NEET UG 2025 Counselling & Admissions

  • Over 12.36 lakh candidates qualified for MBBS, BDS, and other medical courses this year.
  • However, with only 1,18,190 MBBS seats available across 780 medical colleges, competition remains intense.
  • The re-exam could delay counselling, affecting seat allocation timelines.

The NTA must swiftly conduct the re-test and declare results to minimize counseling disruptions. Meanwhile, affected students await a fair chance to secure their medical college admissions.
