Fresh details have emerged in the broad daylight killing of Chandan Mishra, a convicted gangster who was gunned down inside Paras Hospital in Patna on Thursday. As per an India Today report, officials have found that the six-member gang responsible for the murder had done extensive groundwork and were thoroughly familiar with the hospital's layout.
According to officials cited by India Today, six assailants arrived at Paras Hospital on two motorcycles. Five of them, all armed, entered the hospital premises, while one stayed outside to keep watch.
CCTV footage, accessed by India Today, showed the six men gathering in a lane near the hospital to finalise their plan before the execution. The lookout, stationed outside, was seen wearing a helmet.
The attack was reportedly led by Tauseef Badshah, a known criminal with a past record. Sources told India Today that Badshah was well-acquainted with the hospital layout, as he had frequently visited the facility while a close associate underwent prolonged treatment there.
Initially, the shooters were stopped at the hospital's emergency gate by security personnel who demanded gate passes. Since none of them had one, they diverted to the OPD section and gained access to Room Number 209, where Chandan Mishra had been admitted.
India Today sources also revealed that the gang had prior knowledge of Mishra’s exact location within the hospital. They added that the lock on Room 209 was defective and couldn’t be secured from inside, making it easier for the attackers to break in.
Officials said the entire operation was meticulously planned. CCTV footage later captured the gunmen exiting the hospital, appearing to celebrate the act before speeding off on their motorcycles at around 7.15 am.
“A criminal named Chandan Mishra was admitted to Paras Hospital for treatment and was shot by members of a rival gang. It cannot be ruled out that the security guards were involved. We will probe this angle as well,” Central Range (Patna) IG Jitendra Rana told India Today.
Chandan Mishra, 36, a resident of Buxar district, was a convict lodged at Beur Jail and had been released on parole for medical treatment. He was shot multiple times inside his hospital room and died on the spot.
