Authorities in Pune have arrested a 38-year-old IT engineer, Madhav Sadhurao Tiketi, for the alleged murder of his three-year-old son, Himmat Madhav Tiketi, after a heated argument with his wife, police reported. The suspect, a resident of Ratan Prestige in Chandan Nagar, is now in custody facing murder charges.
According to a News18 report, Madhav Tiketi had been jobless for several months prior to the incident. On Thursday, following a domestic dispute with his wife, he stormed out of their home and did not return.
His wife later approached the police to report him missing. CCTV footage reviewed during the investigation showed Tiketi leaving the house with his son, though he was later spotted alone.
Police revealed that Tiketi bought a knife and a blade from a local shop after departing with his son. He then allegedly took the child to an isolated area, where he slit the boy’s throat and discarded the body in nearby bushes. Officers later found Tiketi intoxicated at a hotel and recovered the child’s remains.
The suspect has been charged under sections 103(1) and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Senior Inspector Sima Dhakane of Chandannagar police station noted that Tiketi was heavily under the influence of alcohol during initial questioning, providing evasive and misleading responses.
In a separate case in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a Merchant Navy officer, Saurabh Rajput, was allegedly killed by his wife, Muskaan Rastogi, and her lover, Sahil Shukla, on March 4.
The couple reportedly dismembered his body into 15 pieces, sealing them in a cement-filled drum, just over a week after his return from abroad to celebrate his daughter’s birthday. Both the accused have been arrested.
