A 19-year-old youth was murdered by his girlfriend's brother and four of his friends in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur. One of the accused was arrested by the police, while hunt is on for others.
According to a report by The Times of India, the deceased was identified as Satyendra Uikey, son of Teerath Uikey, a resident of Kuntha Budhwara under Ghansaur police station in Seoni district. He was missing since August 15, and a missing person complaint was lodged at Ghansaur.
The case came to light on August 20, when villagers spotted a highly decomposed body in a forest near Bijha village under Bargi police station limits. As per the report, the police initially couldn't identify the body due to its condition. However, a rakhi and a kada on the wrist helped establish the identity.
Bargi CSP Anjul Ayank Mishra was quoted by The Times of India as saying that the postmortem indicated death due to strangulation. Bargi outpost in-charge Sarita Patel added that the boy was last seen with two acquaintances identified as Brijesh and Sachin Yadav.
Sachin, who was arrested by the police, revealed that Satyendra was in a relationship with his friend's sister, which the girl's brother strongly opposed.
On August 15, the group warned Satyendra to end the relationship. When he refused, all five allegedly strangled him with a gamcha (scarf) and later dumped his body in the forest, the report added.
"Based on interrogation, it has been established that the youth was killed over his relationship. One accused has confessed, and efforts are on to nab the remaining suspects," CSP Mishra told TOI. Police said further investigation is underway to trace the absconding accused and file charges.
