In a video recorded just days before his death, the son of former minister Razia Sultana and her husband, former Director General of Police (DGP) Mohammed Mustafa, had accused his father of having an affair with his wife and conspiring to kill him.
Akeel Akhtar, 35, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Haryana’s Panchkula on October 16.
The allegations surfaced after a pre-recorded video of Akeel was submitted to the police by their family acquaintance, Shamsuddin Chaudhary, who also lodged a formal complaint, seeking a detailed probe into the matter.

According to a report by News18, while the family initially claimed that he had died from a drug overdose, police said preliminary investigations pointed to possible health complications from medicines he had consumed.
The complaint lodged by Shamshuddin, a resident of Malerkotla, and a 16-minute video recorded by Akeel raised serious suspicions of foul play.
In a video reportedly recorded in August, Akeel levelled explosive allegations against his father and wife. “I have discovered my wife’s affair with my dad. I am in a lot of stress and mental trauma. I don’t know what to do," he said in the video.
Alleging that his mother, Razia Sultana, and sister were also part of a conspiracy against him, Akeel said, “Their plan is to have me falsely imprisoned or to have me killed," he said, claiming that his father had known his wife even before the marriage.
“The first day, she didn’t let me touch her. She did not marry me; she married my father," he said in the video, adding that his family often dismissed his concerns by calling him “delusional" or “hallucinating".
Akeel further claimed that his family had forcibly sent him to a rehabilitation centre despite his sobriety. “This confinement was illegal because I was not intoxicated. If I was not mentally stable, I should have been taken to a doctor," he said.
He claimed that his family had seized his money and was attempting to safeguard their public image by depicting him as mentally unstable. “They threaten me that if I take any step against them, they will get me framed in a rape or a murder case," he added.
What FIR said?
According to the FIR accessed by CNN-News18, the complaint filed by Shamshudeen alleges that Akeel died under ‘suspicious circumstances’ at his Panchkula residence.
The complaint claimed ongoing family issues and cites a video posted by Akeel on August 27, in which he accused his father and wife of having an illicit relationship. Akeel had also alleged that his mother and sister were conspiring to kill him or implicate him in a false case, expressing fear that his life was in danger.
The complainant stated that Akeel’s sudden death confirmed his apprehensions, calling it a clear case of foul play. He appealed to the authorities to carry out a thorough and impartial investigation, reviewing his video, digital evidence, call records, and post-mortem report. Based on the complaint, a FIR was subsequently registered at the MDC police station.
Mohammad Mustafa, his wife Razia Sultana are among four who have been booked by Haryana Police in connection with the death of their son.
