EKA Mobility has delivered three 9-metre electric buses to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. The order was placed through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and funded by Power Grid Corporation of India under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The low-floor buses come with a 23+1 seating layout, pushback seats, a wheelchair slot, and a hydraulic lift, aimed at making transport within the AIIMS campus more accessible for differently abled passengers.
The fleet was flagged off in New Delhi by Power Grid Chairman and Managing Director R.K. Tyagi and AIIMS Director Dr M. Srinivas, in the presence of senior officials from both institutions.
"These buses combine comfort, safety, and accessibility. The initiative reflects our shared commitment to sustainable and inclusive mobility," said Rohit Srivastava, Business Head and Chief Growth Officer, EKA Mobility.
The vehicles will be deployed to improve connectivity for patients, hospital staff, and visitors, offering an alternative that reduces emissions while easing travel across the medical institute’s busy campus.
EKA Mobility, backed by Mitsui & Co. (Japan) and VDL Groep (Netherlands), is focused on electric commercial vehicles. The company says its modular platforms and lean manufacturing processes help lower operating costs, making EV adoption more feasible for institutions.
