Mahindra & Mahindra today revealed four new SUV concepts -- Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT and Vision.X -- based on its modular, multi-energy NU_IQ platform. Production will begin in 2027, targeting both Indian and global markets, including left-hand-drive regions. All four models will have internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) avatars.
Mahindra's SUV revenue market share stood at 13.4% in Q2 FY21, when the 3-door Thar was launched. It rose to 23.9% by Q4 FY25, and with the addition of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), it increased further to 27.3% in Q1 FY26.
In India's passenger vehicle (PV) segment, the share of core SUVs grew from 19% in FY22 to 30% in FY25. Mahindra's core SUV growth over the past three years has been three times faster than the overall market.
The NU_IQ architecture supports multiple body sizes, from 3,990mm to 4,320mm in length, as well as varied powertrains -- ICE and electric. It accommodates front-wheel-drive, all-wheel-wheel, right-hand-drive, and left-hand-drive layouts.
Engineering features include a flat-floor design for ICE SUVs, lightweight construction, and safety systems aligned with global standards. Ride quality is enhanced with a five-link suspension for compact models, a segment first, along with DAVINCI damper technology for improved shock absorption. Off-road capability is supported by a 28-degree approach angle and a 34.9-degree departure angle.
Developed by Mahindra India Design Studio (Mumbai) and Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (Banbury, UK), the four concepts represent the next stage of Mahindra's HEARTCORE design philosophy. According to Mahindra, the Vision.T and the Vision.SXT carry a 'Born Iconic' identity, the Vision.S is positioned as 'Sporty Solidity', and the Vision.X as 'Sculptural Athleticism'.
The first NU_IQ-based models will debut in 2027, with India as the launch market before expanding to global territories. The platform will also address the sub-4metre SUV segment.
