Skoda and Volkswagen are planning multiple launches in 2026, with both carmakers lining up several product updates during the calendar year (CY). Among the planned introductions are facelifted versions of their four India-specific MQB-A0-IN-based models -- Kushaq mid-size SUV, Slavia mid-size sedan, Taigun mid-size SUV and Virtus mid-size sedan.
The Skoda Kushaq facelift was revealed in January. While pre-bookings for the updated model are open for Rs 15,000, customer deliveries are scheduled to begin by the end of March. The Skoda Slavia facelift will be launched in India in the fourth quarter of CY26.
The Volkswagen Taigun facelift and the Volkswagen Virtus facelift will enter the market in Q2 CY26 and Q3 CY26, respectively.
For Skoda, the Kushaq and the Slavia accounted for a large share of the brand's India volumes before the arrival of the Kylaq compact SUV. For Volkswagen, the Taigun and the Virtus remain its key models in the Indian market. For reference, the Virtus was the largest-selling mid-size sedan in India in CY25.
Skoda, which recorded its highest annual sales in India last year, is planning 10 launches, including mid-cycle facelifts, variant additions and the introduction of performance-oriented RS and global models, in CY26.
"We will be taking 10 product actions this year. This includes the introduction of three global icons. We have two major upgrades on our volume cars. We have upgraded the Kushaq. The Slavia upgrade is also in the plans. We will also introduce three new variants on the Kylaq. We will introduce some action models across our product range. We will also be upgrading features in one of our models," Skoda Auto India Brand Director Ashish Gupta recently told Moneycontrol.
With regard to Volkswagen's product plans for CY26, the company will have five product interventions during the year, starting with the Tayron R-Line. Pre-bookings have opened for the Tayron R-Line ahead of its launch, scheduled to take place later this month.
Speaking to Moneycontrol, Volkswagen India Brand Director Nitin Kohli said, "We will have product interventions every quarter. We are starting with the Tayron R-Line, followed by the SUVs, sedan and hatchback. The models will cater to different customer needs and different customer segments."
While Skoda sold over 72,000 units in India in CY25, Volkswagen registered sales of around 40,000 units in the domestic market during the year.
