Volkswagen has opened pre-bookings for its flagship SUV, the Tayron R-Line, ahead of its India launch scheduled to take place later this month (February 2026). Customers can reserve the model with a pre-booking amount of Rs 51,000 across authorised dealerships and through its official digital platforms.

The Tayron R-Line will mark Volkswagen's entry into the premium seven-seater SUV segment in India. The model is being locally assembled and positioned as the brand's flagship offering for the Indian market.

The new SUV will be offered in a single, fully-loaded variant. It will come with 14 Level 2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features, which the company claims are segment-leading. It will be assembled in India at Volkswagen's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra, as part of the company's strategy to expand its local portfolio and address demand for larger SUVs.

Under the hood, the Tayron R-Line is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI EA888 EVO4 petrol engine producing 204PS of maximum power and 320Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission with 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system as standard. Volkswagen claims the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 7.3 seconds and has a top speed of 224kmph.

On the design front, the Tayron R-Line features IQ Lights with HD Matrix headlamps, 19-inch alloy wheels, R-Line styling elements on the bumper and front doors, and illuminated front and rear logos. Inside, the SUV gets a 15-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, an augmented reality head-up display, and a panoramic sunroof. Other features include 12-way electrically adjustable front seats with memory, ventilation, massage and lumbar support, 30-colour ambient lighting, and a 700W Harman Kardon sound system.

Safety equipment includes nine airbags, electronic stability control, hill ascent and descent control, and driver profile selection with six driving modes. The SUV also gets a three-zone climate control system, gesture-controlled tailgate, wireless charging, and high-power USB-C ports.

The Tayron R-Line will be offered in seven exterior colour options, including Dolphin Grey Metallic, Oyster Silver Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic and Oryx White Mother-of-Pearl Effect.

Volkswagen currently sells models such as the Taigun mid-size SUV, Virtus mid-size sedan, Tiguan R-Line premium SUV and Golf GTI premium hatchback in India. The Tayron R-Line premium seven-seater SUV is expected to further strengthen the brand's presence in the premium SUV space once launched.
