2026 MG Hector to debut on December 15, new Celadon Blue colour confirmed

The new version arrives at a time when the Hector is struggling with demand, with wholesales dropping to 225 units in October 2025.

The 2026 MG Hector will have a more dynamic character, according to the carmaker.

JSW MG Motor India has confirmed a new Celadon Blue colour option for the upcoming 2026 MG Hector through its latest teaser. The updated model will be unveiled on December 15. Introduced in 2019, the Hector helped MG establish itself in India, but the SUV's recent performance shows clear pressure.

For 2026, MG said that the Hector will look more dynamic. The teasers point to a revised grille, a new LED headlight and taillight setup, and a front profile that appears more assertive than the outgoing version. A previous teaser had already hinted at a cleaner silhouette and a reworked rear lamp assembly. The timing of the update is crucial because Hector volumes have been sliding. In October 2025, the SUV recorded sales of just 225 units.

2026 MG Hector

The 2026 Hector is expected to bring a mix of exterior and interior changes. The redesigned fascia is confirmed, and the revised lighting elements are visible in the teasers. The taillights have been reworked. There is also an expectation that the SUV will move to larger 19-inch alloy wheels, which would give it the stronger stance many buyers now prefer in this segment.

Design has always played a subtle role in how the Hector is perceived. Despite its size, the SUV has never projected the same muscular character as a Mahindra Scorpio or Tata Harrier. Market tastes have shifted since 2019, favouring upright proportions and a more butch overall posture. The upcoming update is expected to push the Hector closer to that direction without moving away from its original identity.

Inside the cabin, MG is likely to refresh key elements rather than overhaul the entire layout. The current model already offers a 14-inch touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and more than 70 connected features. For 2026, updates to the infotainment software, digital cluster and connectivity suite are anticipated. MG is also expected to refine materials and seat design to keep the Hector competitive against newer offerings from Hyundai, Kia, Tata and Mahindra.

No major changes are expected under the hood. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine will continue with outputs of 143PS and 250Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic. The 2.0-litre diesel produces 170PS and 350Nm and remains limited to a 6-speed manual. A diesel-automatic variant is still not on the cards.

The current Hector range is priced between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2026 update is expected to push the bracket slightly, likely settling between Rs 14.50 lakh and Rs 20.50 lakh for the five-seat version. Prices for the six-seat and seven-seat Hector Plus variants will depend on the extent of updates offered on those models.
