The country's largest SUV manufacturer, Mahindra & Mahindra, is preparing to introduce an updated version of the popular Scorpio-N with additional features to enhance its safety, tech and comfort aspects.
The Scorpio-N is among the largest-selling SUVs in India. The Scorpio brand, including the Scorpio-N and the Scorpio Classic, witnessed a 16.53% year-on-year (y-o-y) growth in domestic volumes at 1,64,842 units in FY25 from 1,41,462 units in FY24. The Scorpio-N accounts for over two-thirds of the wholesales.
Mahindra has released new teasers on the Scorpio's official Instagram page, mahindra.scorpio.official, hinting towards the launch of the 2025 Scorpio-N with new bells and whistles.
As per the teasers, the new Mahindra Scorpio-N is likely to get Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), making the SUV safer and tech-loaded. The addition of this feature also makes sense as rivals like the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector Plus already offer the same.
While the SUV in its present avatar offers an electric sunroof, we expect the 2025 Mahindra Scorpio-N to get a panoramic sunroof, which, again, is offered by rival SUVs.
The powertrain options are expected to remain the same in the new Scorpio-N. We do not expect changes there. The SUV currently has two engine options -- 2.0-litre mStallion petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel. The petrol unit delivers 203 PS and 370 Nm with 6-speed MT, and 203 PS and 380 Nm with 6-speed AT. The diesel unit is good for 175 PS and 370 Nm with 6-speed MT, and 175 PS and 400 Nm with 6-speed AT. The diesel engine also comes in a relatively less powerful guise (132 PS and 300 Nm) with 6-speed MT. The Scorpio-N is available in both 2WD and 4WD avatars.
Although the Scorpio-N currently sits in the price bracket of Rs 13,99,200 to Rs 25,15,000 (ex-showroom), we expect the prices to go north once the new features are added.
