Paddy arrivals in Haryana are steadily picking up, with over 1.09 lakh metric tonnes of the crop making their way to various mandis of the state on a daily basis on average.

Paddy arrivals in Haryana are steadily picking up, with over 1.09 lakh metric tonnes of the crop making their way to various mandis of the state on a daily basis on average.
As much as 1,09,984 metric tonnes of paddy arrived in mandis of the state yesterday, increasing the total arrivals since the start of the season to over 10.99 lakh metric tonnes, compared to over 5.65 lakh metric tonnes of the crop during the corresponding period last year.While stating this today, Haryana Food and Supplies Minister Mahender Partap Singh said Kurukshetra district led the rest of the state in terms of paddy arrivals, with over 3.53 lakh metric tonnes of the crop making its way to the mandis, followed by Karnal district, where over 2.78 lakh metric tonnes of paddy arrivals were recorded.Kaithal ranked third in terms of paddy arrivals, with over 1.53 lakh metric tonnes of paddy making its way to the mandis, whereas Ambala district -- with over 1.42 lakh metric tonnes of paddy arrivals -- stood at fourth place.As much as 70,456 metric tonnes of paddy arrived in Fatehabad district, 53,426 metric tonnes in Yamunanagar, 24,494 metric tonnes in Panchkula, and 10,021 metric tonnes in Jind.The minister said out of the total arrivals, over 10.52 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was purchased by government procuring agencies and the rest by the millers. The Food and Supplies Department had purchased over 3.82 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, whereas over 3.63 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased by HAFED. Agro Industries Corporation had purchased over 1.45 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, CONFED 88,693 metric tonnes and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 72,118 metric tonnes paddy.
